Barcelona have snatched David Villa from Valencia for £34.2 Million pounds, it was revealed earlier today.

The Spanish international is expected to arrive in Catalunya on Thursday before taking a medical on Friday morning.

He will be unveiled to an open Camp Nou at 13.30 that afternoon.

Attempts to sign the illustrious forward failed last summer, leaving the freshly crowned Liga Champions having to settle for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The big Swede hasn't since lived up to expectations and, despite a healthy 21-goal season, could well find himself on his way out this summer with reports linking him to Manchester City.

However, FC Barcelona Technical Secretary, Txiki Begiristain, has insisted, "Ibra is not for sale."

When asked if Ibrahimovic had fulfilled initial expectations after a rusty end to the season, he was keen to address that the club must, "asses what he's done from the beginning" and that "he brings a lot to the team."

With the addition of David Villa, the Barca front line could hardly look more appetizing, the goal machine likely to be linking up with magician Lionel Messi, and impressive youngsters, Pedro and Bojan.

Villa racked up an astonishing 107 goals in 166 league matches in his five-year spell at Los Che and is a regular front runner in La Liga's golden boot award.

Bookies put him at 5-1 for top goal scorer in Spain next season.
