Arizona Cardinals: It's Going To Be a Good Year

As a general rule, I don't write overly opinionated articles.

I don't like reading them too often either actually...

I prefer fact-driven articles. I like having reasons to believe what I believe.

FACT: The Arizona Cardinals are not going anywhere this year.

Let me say as a disclaimer here: that does not mean I'm saying the Cardinals will go back to the Super Bowl. Or even to the playoffs.

What it does mean is that signs point to them having another good year—whether that means 10-6 or 7-9.

This article as a whole is a response to needless attacks (not just on this site, but on others) on the Birds. In fact, I'm a little tired of the negative articles, because...

FACT: The Arizona Cardinals arguably just came off their best two seasons in their franchise history.

Shouldn't this be reason for optimism?

Maybe I'm setting myself up for being taken out, but as an Arizona Cardinals columnist here on B/R, I felt the need to stand up for what the Arizona Cardinals are doing—particularly this offseason. Which leads me to...

FACT: Karlos Dansby and Antrel Rolle are not worth the money given them.

Are they good players? Yes. Absolutely. Are they the best at their position, or "top-rated" like I heard them referred to on here?

Absolutely not.

Everyone seems to forget that the secondary should be fine now that Kerry Rhodes is in the fold.

Everyone also seems to forget...

FACT: The Arizona defense was atrocious in the playoffs last year.

You would think that players like Dansby, Rolle, and "everyone else" the Cardinals lost could've prevented that.

Did you ever think that maybe they were not what the Cardinals needed?

Don't get me wrong—I wanted Dansby and Rolle back too.

But life goes on.

Oh, and another thing...

FACT: Two Words--NFC West.

The "Parakeets" (what does that even mean?) as someone on here called them have one competitor this year: the 49ers. Every NFL expert will tell you that.

The Rams are a few years away from even winning again. The Seahawks are rebuilding. Coach Carroll does not make them an immediate winner.

The 49ers are legit—their defense, coupled with a surprisingly good offense will give their opponents fits this year.

Can the Cardinals beat them though?

Speaking of schedules...

FACT: The Arizona Cardinals do not have a tough schedule this year.

Their four toughest opponents are the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, and San Diego Chargers

They're all very beatable.

What works in Arizona's favor is that they play both the NFC West...and the AFC West. That's right. That means they play the Raiders and Chiefs, not to mention the very confused Broncos

And finally...

FACT: This is not the same organization anymore.

Ken Whisenhunt has his fingers all over it. He's taken the Steelers mindset and brought it to Arizona.

That means you lose some key players, you find those to take their place. You don't panic. You stick to the plan.

I really could write another 3 articles on this. But I won't.

As I wrap this article up, I want to again say I'm not attacking anyone personally here. I'm not attacking any other teams.

My point is that for most NFL teams, there is a lot of reason for optimism in the offseason. The Arizona Cardinals are definitely one of those teams.

Anyone who knows anything about the NFL will tell you that.

My message is for those who continually spout pessimism about Arizona to recheck your facts.
