Chris Bosh Tells TMZ LeBron James and Kyrie Irving Should 'Work It Out'

Tim DanielsJul 27, 2017

Chris Bosh, who won two NBA championships alongside LeBron James with the Miami Heat, believes the four-time MVP and his current Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kyrie Irving should come together and "work it out" amid rumors the point guard is seeking a trade from the Cavs.

TMZ Sports passed along Thursday's comments from Bosh, who said he also understood if Irving wanted to leave in order to write his own legacy.

"Absolutely, that's what we all want, right?" he said.

Although James and Bosh enjoyed a lot of team success together with the Heat, the All-Star power forward needed to accept a lesser role in order to make it happen.

In 2014, he told Bleacher Report's Ethan Skolnick about the difference between being a go-to player, like he was with the Toronto Raptors, and being lower in the pecking order.

"You just get your entree and that's it," Bosh said. "It's like, wait a minute, I need my appetizer and my dessert and my drink, what are you doing? And my bread basket. What is going on? I'm hungry! It’s a lot different. But if you can get through it, good things can happen. But it never gets easy. Even up until my last year of doing it, it never gets easier."

Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com first reported Irving's interest in a potential trade, which was discussed during a meeting with Cavaliers officials last week. He named the San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves as possible landing spots.

Both players admitted to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com back in 2015 they didn't always have an easygoing relationship during their early days playing together.

"Friends or no friends, at the end of the day we're all here to do one thing, and that's to win," James said.

Irving added: "I don't want to say it's not been rocky at all. Obviously, he sees the game one way, I see the game another way. What makes it great about being on the team is that we both can see it together in our own way."

While they played well enough together to win a title last year, it has never seemed like the two superstars were completely on the same page.

Now the Cavs front office will be forced to make some tough decisions over the next 12 months concerning a possible Irving trade and dealing with the fact James can opt out of his current contract to become a free agent after next season.
