Meanwhile, El Pais (via Football Espana) cited a police statement on the matter explaining the arrests are part of investigations about "irregularities in the management of the Federation."
El Pais also explained there are allegations against Villar that he used Spanish FA funds to help with his re-election campaign earlier this year.
As well as being head of the Spanish federation, Villar is a senior vice president of both FIFA and UEFA.
UEFA stated only that they are aware of the situation, per BBC Sport's Richard Conway:
According to the Associated Press' Aritz Parra and Joseph Wilson, three more federation executives were also arrested.
