Recap

Bleacher Report's Dean Jones took in the tournament on Friday, enjoying the venue:

France and Portugal opened the night, with Les Bleus taking the win thanks to a goal from Eric Abidal that proved the winning margin.

Barcelona legend Deco scored the best goal of the match, however:

Denmark and Germany played out the first draw of the tournament before Brazil romped to a win over China. Julio Baptista netted a hat-trick, while Rivaldo also got on the scoresheet.

The pick of Baptista's trio of goals was this thunderous strike from distance, relayed on the tournament's official Twitter account:

The Italians only narrowly beat Nigeria 2-1, with former Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero finding the net:

Michel Salgado scored the winner in Spain's triumph over Mexico, completing a comeback before England and Scotland kicked off the night's most anticipated match.

Owen gave the hosts an early lead from the penalty spot and doubled his tally shortly after. His second came about in fine style, as the Three Lions knitted together a series of quick and incisive passes before Owen capped the move in typically clinical fashion:

Mark Burchill pulled one back for the Scots, but Steven Gerrard restored the lead, after which the Lions closed the deal.
