Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur both came back from one goal down to win 2-1 during Sunday's Premier League action, with the Citizens taking care of Arsenal, and Spurs beating Burnley.

Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling wiped out a Theo Walcott opener at the Etihad Stadium, and Dele Alli and Danny Rose turned things around after Ashley Barnes' goal for the Clarets. In the first match of the day, Southampton beat Bournemouth 3-1.

Here's a look at Sunday's results:

Recap

Sunday was not a great day for the Premier League's top scorers, with just one player ranked in the top 10 finding the net. Walcott gave Arsenal an early lead at the Etihad Stadium, courtesy of some dreadful defending from the Citizens.

The goal wouldn't lead to a win, however. After a dire first half, City came out with renewed energy after the break and quickly tied things up through Sane―although there was more than a hint of offside about the goal.

Sterling fired home the winner midway through the second half, and per Sport Witness, whatever manager Pep Guardiola said during half-time worked:

Sergio Aguero missed the clash due to suspension, and Mesut Ozil, who was ranked in the top 10 earlier this season, endured a nightmare outing. The Germany international lacked energy and barely created any chances, leading to plenty of criticism on social media.

The Guardian's Barney Ronay took a shot at Ozil:

With the win, City moved into second place for the time being, with Liverpool yet to play their Week 17 match against Everton. Arsenal find themselves in fourth place following back-to-back losses, and they enter the busy festive period in dreadful form.

Spurs kept pace with the title contenders by beating Burnley—but only just. Top forward Harry Kane didn't find the net, but Alli and Rose did, turning around the match after Barnes' opener.

With Toby Alderweireld absent, Tottenham's defence looked suspect, giving the visitors far too much space for the opener. Their individual quality eventually made the difference, however.

As shared by former Spurs star Graham Roberts, the two full-backs deserved full credit:

Another comeback took place at Bournemouth, and it was Jay Rodriguez who stole the show for Southampton with a brace. Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake continued his fine season by scoring the opening goal, but the visitors took control of the match after that.

Ryan Bertrand tied things up just eight minutes after Ake's opener, and Rodriguez worked his magic to grab three points. It was a fantastic showing from the forward, who has spent a long time working his way back from a devastating injury and was rightly ecstatic with his performance. He also thanked everyone who kept believing in him:

Week 17 will come to an end on Monday, as Everton and Liverpool face off in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
