Recap
Fabregas scored the only goal in Chelsea's win late in the first half, with the Blues dictating the pace of the match after the break and holding on to the lead.
Bleacher Report UK noted the Spaniard's contributions of late:
The league leaders survived a late scare, as Thibaut Courtois made one of the best saves of the season in injury time to deny Sunderland an equaliser.
With Arsenal losing against Everton on Tuesday, Chelsea now enjoy a solid six-point lead with the festive period on the horizon. It's an excellent and somewhat unexpected position for the Blues to be in and with City and Arsenal going head-to-head in Week 17, things could improve even more.
Per sports writer Dan Levene, manager Antonio Conte was satisfied with his team's great run:
Ibrahimovic added to his tally in the final minutes of United's win over Crystal Palace, gifting his side three big points. With Paul Pogba scoring the opener, it was a good day for the Red Devils' summer signings all around, per Sport Witness:
James McArthur equalised for the Eagles, and for the longest time it looked as if Crystal Palace would hold on to the point with some help from the officials. United fans were furious when decision after decision went against their team, with the referee waving off a legitimate goal and denying the side a clear penalty.
Ibrahimovic came through in the end, however, ensuring United keep pace with the top clubs above them.
Adam Lallana did the same for Liverpool, scoring twice in their easy 3-0 win over Middlesbrough. As shared by Squawka Football, the England international had quite the day:
The in-form Divock Origi added a goal of his own, as Jurgen Klopp's troops were never truly troubled by Boro.
Christian Eriksen struck twice in Tottenham Hotspur's easy win over Hull City, with Victor Wanyama putting the final score on the board at White Hart Lane. With the win, Spurs remain three points ahead of United in the standings.
