Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund

Although both Madrid and Dortmund routinely secured their spot in the next round, they’ve given us some thrills in Group F. Not only did they play out a pulsating 2-2 draw in the first fixture at the Westfalenstadion, but each has showcased thrilling attacking football throughout the competition.
Madrid’s 3-3 draw against Legia Warsaw was the most gripping game of the tournament, while Dortmund’s record 8-4 win over the same opposition was a breathless affair. And with nothing to lose for either side, goals are surely a given here too.
Real have to be the favourites, especially at home. Per ESPN FC’s Dermot Corrigan, under manager Zinedine Zidane they’ve excelled:
Indeed, while Los Blancos may not be quite as cavalier in their approach under the Frenchman, they’re extremely resilient. It was a quality on show in Saturday’s Clasico showdown with Barcelona, as a late Sergio Ramos header saw them escape the Camp Nou with a point.
Dortmund know a draw would be enough to top Group F, but any thoughts of them sitting back in this one shouldn’t be entertained.

Under manager Thomas Tuchel they are a major force going forward, and with the likes of Marco Reus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele in the squad, they will pose a major threat if the game does become stretched. Per Squawka Football, the former has been in fine form since he returned from injury:
Both teams can throw caution to the wind here. Not only are they both qualified, but the likely gulf between first and second place in this year’s competition is unlikely to be too wide. Subsequently, expect an entertaining 90 minutes between two genuine contenders for this year’s title.
Prediction: Real Madrid 2-2 Borussia Dortmund
Lyon vs. Sevilla

After a brilliant start to the group stage, Sevilla looked as though they were set to sail through to the last 16. But a lull in form means their hopes are teetering on the edge of a cliff, and Lyon can nudge them down into the UEFA Europa League.
It’s been a wonderful campaign in the main for Sevilla, who have blossomed under manager Jorge Sampaoli. However, preparation for this crucial fixture has been far from ideal; they were well beaten by Juventus in their last Champions League outing and lost 2-1 to La Liga’s bottom side Granada on Saturday.
Sevilla have received a boost ahead of this key clash, though, with on-loan midfielder Samir Nasri back in training ahead of the game. Per Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague, he’s been so important for the team this term:
Lyon gave themselves a chance to progress as they battled to a 1-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in their last match. Their buildup hasn’t been ideal either, though.
Their match against Metz on Saturday was abandoned in the first half after goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was struck by a firecracker thrown from the terraces and hospitalised. “Lyon underline the fact that the whole squad... have been seriously shaken emotionally by this aggression,” read part of a statement from the club on the matter, per Reuters (h/t Eurosport).

Lyon do have reason to be positive, though. Per the Champions League Twitter feed, in Alexandre Lacazette, the Andalusians will be up against a forward who’s found his goalscoring touch as of late:
With three points needed and a raucous home crowd at their back, the Ligue 1 side will push on strong in this one. However, Sevilla have the class to cause problems on the counter and secure the point needed to progress.
Prediction: Lyon 1-1 Sevilla
