La Liga Table 2016 Week 14: Standings and Final Scores After Monday
Deportivo La Coruna climbed out of the relegation zone thanks to an emphatic 5-1 win over sixth-placed Real Sociedad at Estadio Riazor on Monday.
It was only Depor's third win of the Liga season and came as something of a surprise against a La Real side who had won five of their last six matches in all competitions.
The hosts went 3-0 ahead in the first 45 minutes, Sidnei netting the opener before Inigo Martinez turned into his own net and Florin Andone finished an excellent Depor move.
Yuri Berchiche's fine goal early in the second half gave La Real a sniff of a potential comeback, but Ryan Babel turned home the rebound from his own penalty with 26 minutes remaining, and Andone added a fifth to wrap up the points.

Monday Recap
Other results in La Liga had pushed Depor into the relegation zone by the time their clash with La Real came around.
The visitors had the best early chance after a clever set piece, but soon it was Deportivo who looked the most threatening.
Andone had two excellent chances in the opening exchanges but could not open the scoring.
However, in the 13th minute, Sidnei fired his side into the lead having received the ball on the penalty spot after La Real failed to respond fast enough to a short corner.
Just before the half-hour mark, Depor's lead was doubled when Martinez turned home Andone's ball from the right.
The Spanish centre-back clearly thought there was more danger behind him than there actually was, and he arguably did not need to put his foot on the ball.

Depor then went three ahead through Andone three minutes before the break, with the striker sending a first-time finish into the back of the net from the near post after excellent work down the right by Juanfran.
The home side reached the break in a comfortable position having had by far the better of the opening 45 minutes despite significantly less possession.
Some tension spread around the Riazor when La Real pulled one back in the 57th minute, with Berchiche finishing excellently from the edge of the box after a delightful backheel assist from Sergio Canales.
However, they reestablished their three-goal cushion in the 64th minute, with Babel finishing well after La Real goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli did well to keep his penalty out.
The Romanian, Andone, then smashed home a deserved second at the near post having been put through in the right channel, per AS:
It was a swashbuckling and confidence-boosting performance from Depor—while La Real were below their best—and they now sit in 16th place, just above the drop zone.
