Golden Shoe 2016-17: Top Goalscorers in Europe, Updated Points on November 28
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang now sits alone as the leader in the European Golden Shoe rankings after he moved to 13 goals for the Bundesliga season with his strike in Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 Saturday defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Cristiano Ronaldo's double in Real Madrid's 2-1 win over Sporting Gijon moved him into the top 10, while Roma's Edin Dzeko and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero also netted braces in victories.
The leading pack has got a more familiar feel to it now as Europe's top leagues are in full swing, but Yevgeni Kabayev of Estonian club Kalev is just behind leader Aubameyang.
Here is what the current top 10 looks like following the weekend's action, along with a closer look at how some of the continent's leading marksman added to their tallies.
| Position | Player | Team | Goals x Factor | Points |
| 1 | Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Borussia Dortmund | 13 x 2.0 | 26.0 |
| 2 | Yevgeni Kabayev | Kalev | 25 x 1.0 | 25.0 |
| T3 | Anthony Modeste | Cologne | 12 x 2.0 | 24.0 |
| T3 | Edin Dzeko | Roma | 12 x 2.0 | 24.0 |
| 5 | Vitali Rodionov | BATE Borisov | 15 x 1.5 | 22.5 |
| 6 | Gerard Gohou | FC Kairat | 22 x 1.0 | 22.0 |
| T7 | Diego Costa | Chelsea | 10 x 2.0 | 20.0 |
| T7 | Andrea Belotti | Torino | 10 x 2.0 | 20.0 |
| T7 | Mauro Icardi | Inter Milan | 10 x 2.0 | 20.0 |
| T7 | Moussa Marega | Guimaraes | 10 x 2.0 | 20.0 |
| T7 | Cristiano Ronaldo | Real Madrid | 10 x 2.0 | 20.0 |
| T7 | Sergio Aguero | Manchester City | 10 x 2.0 | 20.0 |
Points for the Golden Shoe table are calculated by the amount of goals multiplied by a difficulty factor—determined by the strength of the league in which the goals are scored.
Strikes in the Bundesliga are worth two points, so Aubameyang's haul of 13 goals yields 26 points.
Ronaldo, Aguero into Top 10
Ronaldo has doubled his La Liga tally for the season in his last two appearances having followed up his hat-trick against Atletico Madrid with a double against Gijon at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
He now stands alone as the Spanish top flight's leading goalscorer and is firmly in contention to claim a fifth career Golden Shoe if he carries on his current goal-a-game scoring rate.
The Portuguese superstar first netted from the penalty spot against Gijon and then headed home Nacho's cross.
Having started the season slowly by his standards, Ronaldo is now firmly up to speed, as he has shown that talk of his demise was slightly exaggerated, per the UEFA Champions League:
Aguero benefited from some fortune as he scored both City's goals in their comeback victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, but his killer instinct in front of goal was also required for the Sky Blues to earn a win.
The Argentinian pounced on a free ball to net the opener, but he knew very little about his second as Fernandinho's cross bounced off him and into the back of the net after some calamitous Burnley defending.
However, both goals came as a result of Aguero being in the right place at the right time, as is so often the case with the superlative striker.
His consistency has been remarkable in 2016 and, if he continues his flying form, City will remain genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season, per Opta:
Dzeko has endured several underwhelming campaigns in recent years, but 2016-17 is turning out to be one of his best ever.
He has now scored 12 Serie A goals in 14 appearances, and his double against Pescara on Sunday was key as Roma ran out 3-2 winners.
With Juventus falling to a shock 3-1 defeat at Genoa on Saturday, Roma have now closed the gap to the league leaders to just four points.
Dzeko's continued good form will be vital for the Giallorossi as they look to close the gap further to the Old Lady, with the Rome derby against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico their next league outing.
