Pardew Under Pressure

Once again, Crystal Palace have fallen into a rut under Pardew, and the heat is really starting to turn up on the former Newcastle United boss.
Although the Eagles have some fine players at their disposal and are capable of some wonderful passages of play, consistency is not a concept they’re overly familiar with. On the back of four straight defeats, the Selhurst Park supporters are beginning to get impatient after a torrid 2016.
BBC Sport’s Luke Reddy admitted he wouldn’t be surprised to see Pardew given the axe based on the team’s recent showings:
City, therefore, could be playing Palace at an ideal time. After all, in their last three games, the Londoners have shipped a whopping 10 goals, meaning the likes of Aguero, De Bruyne and Sterling should be licking their lips in anticipation.
For Guardiola’s men, it's important to build momentum again, too. The tremendous 3-1 win over Barcelona looked poised to be catalyst for another strong run of form, but conceding late against Boro was a body blow, as Liverpool overtook City to move top of the league.

The City manager has some issues of his own to sort out, although admittedly they are not as deep-rooted as the ones Pardew must conquer.
As noted by OptaJoe, Guardiola’s side have been far from watertight in their defensive duties so far this season:
What they do possess is an incredible amount of attacking variety. The thrust offered by players such as Sterling and Aguero is complemented by the guile of Gundogan, De Bruyne and Silva. Additionally, Nolito, Leroy Sane and Kelechi Iheanacho are also excellent options to call upon.
That quality will ultimately be too great for a brittle Palace defence. Selhurst Park will be noisy and unbending in the backing of their players despite this poor run of form. But against a City team that has a point to prove in south London, this one could be a difficult watch for the home fans.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-4 Manchester City
