Recap
Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring for Arsenal in style as he beat a defender before deftly chipping the ball over the goalkeeper and into the far corner. As Squawka Football revealed, the Chilean has been in supreme form in Europe of late:
Walcott made it 2-0 shortly before half-time when he curled home a sumptuous effort from outside the area.
Early in the second half, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain showed Walcott isn't the only Gunners player in resurgent form when he netted his third goal of the season, putting him level with last year's tally already.
Ozil netted the final three goals as he finished one-on-one, converted a cross and swept home a volley to finish off the game. Bleacher Report UK's own James McNicholas was delighted with the match:
Meanwhile, Barcelona took the lead in a narrow game with City when a slip from Fernandinho afforded Lionel Messi time and space in the penalty area, and the Argentinian calmly rounded Claudio Bravo before tucking home.
Bravo saw red for a handball outside the area—having given the ball away to Luis Suarez—and Messi quickly added two more goals to his haul.
The Guardian's Sid Lowe reflected on his incredible record against Premier League opposition:
Despite Jeremy Mathieu carelessly getting sent off for a needless challenge on Raheem Sterling—having already been booked—Barca were able to add a fourth through Neymar late on as he made amends for missing a penalty moments earlier.
PSG were perhaps fortunate to be ahead at half-time thanks to Angel Di Maria's close-range effort, with Basel having struck the woodwork twice through Michael Lang and Seydou Doumbia.
Lucas Moura netted a second soon after the break before Edinson Cavani lashed home a penalty late on.
Atletico earned their third successive 1-0 win in the competition when Yannick Carrasco converted Juanfran's cross at the back post. Per OptaJose, the Belgian is in imperious form right now:
The win ensures Los Rojiblancos stay three points ahead of Bayern, who thrashed PSV.
Thomas Muller fired home a rebound from close range, and Joshua Kimmich soon doubled the Bavarians' lead when he nodded home David Alaba's cross. As BT Sport's Archie Rhind-Tutt noted, the midfielder is enjoying a phenomenal run of form in front of goal:
Luciano Narsingh hit back for PSV with a powerful strike on the break, but Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben netted in the second half to kill off the contest.
Adriano and Vincent Aboubakar struck either side of Dries Mertens to give Besiktas the half-time lead at Napoli.
Manolo Gabbiadini equalised from the penalty spot, but Aboubakar grabbed a late winner to earn the Turkish side a surprise win.
Elsewhere, goals from Eduardo Salvio and Franco Cervi handed Benfica a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kiev, while Celtic slipped to a defeat by the same scoreline at home to Borussia Monchengladbach, who earned their first win in the group thanks to Lars Stindl and Andre Hahn.
