La Liga Results 2016: Full Table and Scores After Final Week 8 Match

Tom SunderlandOct 17, 2016

Osasuna clinched their first win of the season after coming from behind to defeat Eibar 3-2 on Monday evening, although even three points wasn't enough to lift one of La Liga's strugglers out of the bottom three.

Gonzalo Escalante put the hosts ahead after just 18 seconds before two goals from Sergio Leon put Osasuna in front, and Roberto Torres provided a second-half winner after Sergi Enrich equalised for Eibar just before half-time.

Monday's result capped off an entertaining Week 8 schedule in which Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid all notched big wins to continue their tug-of-war at La Liga's peak.

Eibar 2-3 Osasuna

Eleven places separated the two teams entering Monday's fixture, and Osasuna looked destined to see their search for a first win of the season linger on after it took Escalante just 18 seconds to get on the board.

The visiting outfit's defence looked like it was still warming up as the Eibar midfielder's outside-of-the-boot finish gave their guests a nightmare start, and La Liga confirmed his quick strike as a record for the 2016-17 term:

Thankfully for Osasuna manager Enrique Martin, his troops displayed more fortitude than to be swept aside so easily, and Leon struck back with two goals in three minutes to get his side in front around the half-hour mark.

A header in the 29th minute drew the travelling team level before an error from Eibar goalkeeper Asier Riesgo allowed Leon a second just minutes later, and football writer Simon Harrison hailed the summer arrival's impact:

Eibar's blushes were saved on the stroke of the interval as Enrich thudded in a header of his own from a Bebe cross to ensure the Basque team went in at level pegging for their half-time team talk.

There was entertainment elsewhere in Europe on Monday evening, but beIN Sports reporter Phil Schoen testified to this titanic Spanish duel as being the best feature on offer:

Escalante was taken off in place of Nano at the half-time whistle, and this time it was Osasuna's turn to hit first following the restart, with Torres nudging his side in front with a left-footed strike from a tough angle.

Martin threw five in defence for the closing exchanges and reaped the benefits of his tactical input as referee Mario Melero Lopez blew for full-time to give the Reds a long-awaited first victory of the campaign.
