Saturday Recap

Sevilla rose to second in the table as they earned their fourth win from seven Liga games this term.

In a tight contest at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, the hosts had to wait until the 74th minute until Ben Yedder broke the deadlock to set his team on the path to victory.

Ganso assisted the Frenchman as he slotted away his chance with ruthless composure and deadly accuracy.

Alaves thought they had earned a draw when Víctor Laguardia's goal levelled the match with only six minutes remaining, but Ben Yedder scored the winner in the final minute of the contest after excellent work from Vitolo.

Football writer Sid Lowe called the action as Sevilla prevailed in style:

Leganes' surprising application continued on Saturday as the minnows from the outskirts of the Spanish capital defeated Granada on their travels.

Szymanowski's left-footed shot whipped into the bottom corner in the 76th minute as the Cucumber Growers maintained their mid-table start to the campaign. Robert Ibanez claimed the assist as his Buenos Aires-born team-mate slammed in the winning goal.

Osasuna and Las Palmas shared the spoils in Pamplona as the combatants drew 2-2 at El Sadar.

Roberto Torres opened the scoring for the hosts after seven minutes from the penalty spot after Kevin-Prince Boateng was penalised for handball.

Sergio Leon made it 2-0 in injury time at the end of the first half, as Los Rojillos' players strutted off for the half-time interval. However, they were stung in the second half, with the visiting team fighting back to earn a point.

Vicente Gomez's header hit the back of the net shortly before the hour-mark, and David Garcia's close-range effort in the last minutes completed the comeback.

Sky Sports' David Garrido said the pressure is mounting on Osasuna after failing to win a league match this term:

Osasuna will be aggrieved to have surrendered the three points, but Las Palmas deserved great credit for their powers of recover.

Enrique Martin must get his side back to winning ways, otherwise a bitter relegation will be Osasuna's main attraction as the new season matures.

In Saturday's final match, Deportivo won their second Liga game of 2016-17, as Ryan Babel's last-minute winner defeated Sporting Gijon.

Celso Borges gave Depor a first-half advantage, but Sergio Alvarez's header levelled the match. It was left to Babel's shot from distance to send the crowd wild as the Branquiazuis climb to 12th place.
