Recap

Hapoel and Southampton came into Thursday's clash having won their first Europa League matches, but neither side ever seemed capable of repeating that feat in Israel, as fans were in for an uninspiring evening.

As shared by Paddy Power, the two teams served up a drab first half, with some minor shoving just before half-time the main highlight:

Southampton improved after the break and tried to open up Hapoel's defence with crosses, but the vast majority of their balls into the box fell nowhere.

Manager Claude Puel was happy with the point, via the Saints' official Twitter account:

The win leaves both teams on four points, one more than Sparta Prague, who shocked Inter Milan 3-1 thanks to a quick brace from Vaclav Kadlec. The Czech side dominated the Italian giants throughout the first half, and they were unlucky not to increase their lead when Kadlec went close again just before half-time.

Andre Lowe of the Jamaica Gleaner couldn't understand why the Nerazzurri don't seem to take the competition seriously:

The introduction of Mauro Icardi helped matters for the Nerazzuri, who pulled a goal back through Rodrigo Palacio, but Mario Holek put the final score on the board just one minute after Andrea Ranocchia was sent off.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the hero for United, scoring the only goal in their win over Zorya. The Red Devils were expected to dominate the Ukrainian minnows but put together a disappointing outing, with Ibrahimovic's second-half header one of the few highlights.

Roma had no such issues against Giurgiu, as Kevin Strootman, Federico Fazio and Mohamed Salah all scored, with Fabricio also adding an own goal.

The team's official Twitter account enjoyed the outing:

Nice lost 5-2 against Krasnodar, who grabbed the win thanks to braces from Joaozinho and Ari, but once again, Mario Balotelli stole the show with yet another goal.

As shared by Squawka Football, the former Liverpool man has been in sensational form for Nice:

Fiorentina easily beat Qarabag 5-1, with Mauro Zarate scoring a brace, and Kasper Dolberg scored the only goal in Ajax's win over Standard Liege.

Schalke 04 beat Salzburg and Steaua Bucuresti held Villarreal to a 1-1 draw, while Celta Vigo booked a 2-0 win over Panathinaikos.
