Match Preview

A month on from the 2016 Rio Games, USWNT are back in action as they look to rebuild after their recent showing in Brazil in which Sweden defeated them on penalty kicks in the quarterfinals.
Thailand are their opponents in Ohio, and the nation only made their first appearance at a World Cup at the most recent tournament in Canada, where the United States prevailed.
The Thai collective were beaten by Norway and Germany at the competition, losing 4-0 to both nations, but tasted success as they defeated the Ivory Coast.
A 3-2 win was secured by goals from Orathai Srimanee and Thanatta Chawong.

The United States are on a strong run this year, winning 16 matches from 19 contests, including three defeats.
The Americans have earned 14 clean sheets during the past 12 months, conceding just seven goals due to their mean and organised defence.
The game will be O'Reilly's last match for her country after a stunning international career which began in 2002, making her one of the most capped players in history.
U.S Soccer WNT thanked the FC Kansas City winger for her contributions:
"After 15 years, @HeatherOReilly retires from the #USWNT on 9/15. Share your fave HAO moments with us. #ThanksHAO pic.twitter.com/MmSKMpMTWJ
— U.S. Soccer WNT (@ussoccer_wnt) September 13, 2016"
The attacker's last game ensures it will be an emotional occasion in Columbus, as American fans wave goodbye to an all-time great.
O'Reilly is one of the most successful athletes to ever play the women's game, and she will leave a huge hole in the United States squad.
U.S. Soccer tipped its hat to the legend:
"After 230 games, 46 goals, three Olympic Gold medals and a World Cup title to her name, O’Reilly – better known to most as HAO – will wear her No. 9 jersey one last time on Sept. 15 against Thailand in Columbus and then bid farewell to her remarkable career and the team she has been a part of for the last 15 years. HAO made her U.S. WNT debut on March 1, 2002 at the Algarve Cup in Portugal when she was only 17-years-old and a junior in high school. A few months later on Oct. 6, 2002 she scored her first international goal. Known for her speed, strength, fantastic crosses, outgoing personality and unique game faces, O’Reilly has been a staple of the WNT for a long time. O’Reilly retires having played in three Women’s World Cup tournaments (2007, 2011, 2015), and in three Olympic Games (2004, 2008, 2012).
"

The United States should have few questions posed by their opponents on Thursday, and the game will have a carnival feel as O'Reilly steps out of the tunnel one last time.
The hosts will want to put on a show after a lacklustre performance in Rio and prove they are still the best team in the world—despite not collecting the gold medals they expected to win in South America.
