Costa stole the show like only he can during the first half of the clash between Chelsea and Swansea, opening the score with a lovely finish before running into a silly booking that infuriated neutral fans watching the match.

Things started well for the Spain international, who finished off a great passing move from the Blues with a clever finish, slotting the ball past goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. Per Bleacher Report UK, scoring against Swansea is becoming a habit for Costa:

ESPN FC's David Amoyal thinks manager Antonio Conte must be glad he didn't sell the former Atletico Madrid man this summer:

Chelsea barely got out of first gear during the first half, and the match soon became a mess of clumsy challenges and physical play. The 27-year-old took a beating at the hands of Swansea, and he returned the favour by lashing out at Fer and getting in the face of several Swansea players.

Copa90 couldn't help themselves:

Near the end of the half, Costa almost doubled his tally, comically missing a sitter after the hosts failed to deal with a corner.

Sigurdsson tied things up after 60 minutes, taking advantage of an error from Thibaut Courtois, who completely judged a high ball wrong and took out the Iceland international. He couldn't redeem himself on the resulting penalty, and his poor showing drew plenty of mockery on social media.

Bwin compared him to Manchester City's new goalkeeper:

Things got even worse shortly after, as Fer gave his side the lead in controversial fashion. The forward seemed to commit a clear foul on Gary Cahill winning the ball, but the official was unmoved, and Fer easily converted from close range.

Official Andre Marriner missed a blatant dive from Costa shortly after, prompting this tweet from Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail:

Marriner's decision not to hand Costa his second yellow card turned out to be a big one, as the forward bagged his second goal of the match after 81 minutes. The goal itself wasn't without controversy, as he scored a spectacular overhead kick that could easily have been considered dangerous play.

ESPN FC's Dale Johnson didn't think it should have been allowed:

A late rally and the introduction of Michy Batshuayi didn't lead to a winner, as Swansea ended the Blues' perfect start to the season.

Per Chelsea's official Twitter account, Conte praised Costa for keeping his composure in a physical encounter:

Sunderland and Everton will meet in the final Week 4 match on Monday.
