Eric Bailly Injury: Manchester United Defender Injures Knee vs. Chelsea
Manchester United’s star defender, Eric Bailly, suffered a knee injury in Sunday's 4-0 loss against Chelsea in the Premier League.
Manager Jose Mourinho feared the injury was a nasty one, as he told BBC Sport: "I am afraid it is a bad injury. It is in his knee, the ligament area. He feels it is really bad."
Although it’s still early in Bailly’s United career, he’s been outstanding for the Red Devils since joining in the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old has been a colossus at the back for manager Jose Mourinho, bringing a presence and physicality to the defence.

On Sunday, he was the only United defender who impressed, with partner Chris Smalling giving up several clear chances that resulted in goals.
Given just how much momentum Bailly has built up in the early stages of his time as a United player, to suffer with this injury problem is a blow.
For Mourinho, it leaves a huge void to fill as well. In Smalling, Daley Blind, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, the United boss has options to consider. Even so, none of those are as aggressive or authoritative as Bailly.
It means United’s defence will be put under severe pressure in the upcoming clashes as the young defender continues his recovery. Manchester City, Burnley and Fenerbahce, the Red Devils' next three opponents, will be hopeful of capitalising on any frailties that could emerge as a result of this problem.
