10 Misfiring Strikers Who Need to Rediscover Their Scoring Touch
It's been a difficult start to the season for a number of high-profile forwards, many of whom aren't used to struggling.
Whether it is down to missed chances or a general lack of link-up play, they simply aren't getting the goals that we expect of them, but who are these players and how can they improve?
Take a look at our hall of shame.
Alexandre Lacazette
1 of 10
Goals this season: 1
The scorer of 29 goals in 35 appearances last season, Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette has struggled for both fitness and form in 2015/16, scoring just once so far in his side's 1-1 draw at Marseille.
You'd expect more from his nine appearances in all competitions, and one of the hottest properties in Ligue 1 will expect to rediscover some better form with an eye on his place in France's squad for Euro 2016.
Harry Kane
2 of 10
Goals this season: 1
Everything that Harry Kane touched last season seemed to turn to goals, but it has been a different story for the 22-year-old this time around.
He did manage to score twice on England duty and finally broke his Tottenham duck for the campaign in the convincing win over Manchester City, but supporters would expect more of a player who made such an impact in his breakthrough season in 2014/15, even though better should be around the corner.
Jackson Martinez
3 of 10
Goals this season: 1
He's been in and out of the Atletico Madrid team as he gets used to his life at his club, but Jackson Martinez will have hoped to have registered more than just a solitary strike so far.
Sharing forward duties with Fernando Torres (who has netted twice), the Colombian has featured in eight matches for his new club, but you get the feeling that once he gets a regular run in the team, then the goals will flow.
Diego Costa
4 of 10
Goals this season: 2
At this point of his debut campaign in English football last year, Diego Costa had already scored eight goals. He's only got two this time around.
That form comes as a direct result of Chelsea's disappointing performances over the season so far, and with the Spanish international now banned from Premier League matches following his antics against Arsenal last month, he'll have to be patient as he looks to get his season kickstarted.
Radamel Falcao
5 of 10
Goals this season: 1
With Costa misfiring, Chelsea have needed goals from elsewhere, but only one has come from summer signing Radamel Falcao.
With Loic Remy also only managing one strike (but from only five appearances), Blues boss Jose Mourinho could really do with Falcao rediscovering his old self during his spell at Stamford Bridge, but so far he has been the same disappointment we saw at Manchester United.
Mario Mandzukic
6 of 10
Goals this season: 1 (excluding the Italian Super Cup)
A proven forward of experience who has scored goals everywhere he's been, Juventus's summer signing Mario Mandzukic has nonetheless got off to a slow start at his new club, failing to net in Serie A.
He did score in the morale-boosting Champions League win at Manchester City, but if Juve are to improve following their puzzlingly poor start to the domestic season, they are going to need him to start firing—and fast.
Ciro Immobile
7 of 10
Goals this season: 0
Chasing your first goal after signing for a new club can often be a thankless task, and Sevilla's Ciro Immobile is experiencing that right now.
Admittedly five of his six Sevilla appearances so far have come from the bench, but the Italian forward looks to be a long way away from the player we saw score 22 goals to finish as the top scorer in Serie A in the 2013/14 season whilst at Torino.
Alvaro Negredo
8 of 10
Goals this season: 1
Now in his second season at Valencia after cutting short his Manchester City adventure after just one campaign, forward Alvaro Negredo has often cut a frustrated figure as his club have embarked upon the twin challenges of La Liga and the Champions League.
He scored in Valencia's second La Liga game of the season, but that is all he's managed to do in six games he's played in this campaign, and his club's fans will expect better.
Rickie Lambert
9 of 10
Goals this season: 0
His confidence seemingly shattered by a disappointing season at Liverpool, Rickie Lambert is still to find the net for new club West Bromwich Albion following his summer switch from Merseyside.
With Saido Berahino and Salomon Rondon now seemingly ahead of the forward in the pecking order at the Hawthorns, Lambert's England days seem to be a long way behind him.
Wilfried Bony
10 of 10
Goals this season: 0
A lack of game time has been a serious issue, but forward Wilfried Bony simply hasn't got going in a Manchester City shirt as yet and remains without a goal in six appearances this season.
The Ivorian is very much playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero, but he hasn't made the most of the chances that have come his way and these days cuts a frustrated figure.
