Tuesday, Nov. 10

Aguero posted an update on his condition to Instagram as he continued his recovery:

Aguero added more on his condition on the club's official website:

"

I don’t think I’m too far away now. Physically, I feel good and I’ve kept as fit as I can during my lay-off. I still need to work hard for another week and if not this week, then maybe next, I hope to start training with the rest of the lads and so and my target is Liverpool. I’ll take things slowly and not rush into anything, but I’m not far away.

Aguero Loses Fight to Be Fit for Argentina vs. Brazil

Tuesday, Oct. 27

The City star's name was a notable omission, per ESPN FC, when Argentina announced their squad for World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Colombia.

Aguero had previously stated his intention to be fit for the showdown with Brazil, per Jamie Jackson of the Guardian on Oct. 14.

City Rubbish Claims Aguero Represented Argentina While Injured

Sunday, Oct. 11

"[Aguero] was fit to play when he left us and trained normally with Argentina before the game," a senior City source said, according to Simon Mullock of the Mirror. He continued:

"

[Aguero] wasn't injured against Newcastle. He suffered a slight knock, and the manager made it clear he was substituted as a precaution because the game was won. Sergio did have treatment in the dressing room after he was brought off, but it was not serious enough to warrant him pulling out of the Argentina squad. He certainly didn't have a problem with his hamstring, and once it was deemed he was fit to travel, we were obliged to release him to Argentina.

Aguero Injury Turns Spotlight on City Team-Mates

The 27-year-old is arguably City's most important player, having scored 26 goals and provided eight assists in 33 league games during the 2014-15 campaign.

He had just hit top form ahead of the international break, netting five goals in one match against Newcastle United.

The loss of Aguero meant the team's other superstars—Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany most prominently—had to elevate their own games. The other forwards in the squad, such as Wilfried Bony and Kelechi Iheanacho, also needed to find ways to fill the goalscoring void left by Aguero's absence.

Regardless, ascending to the top of English and European football will be a tall task without Aguero, whose injury problems continue to be a hindrance.
