The 1-0 victory helped Galatasaray move six points clear at the top of the table but also left supporters of rival teams upset.
According to Liam Corless of the Mirror:
"Fans of city (and title) rivals Besiktas and Fenerbahce fumed.
And former Fener full-back Bilal Niyaz declared that the Turkish Football Federation needs to get a grip on the country's fixing problem, claiming he was embarrassed to play in the country:
"
Genclerbirligi President Ilhan Cavcav denied the accusation, telling Turkish newspaper Haberturk in an Associated Press article (via the Boston Herald) that Kaplan "is an honest goalkeeper and has character."
In 2013, Fenerbahce were banned from European competition for two years after being found guilty of match-fixing.
