Louis Van Gaal Slammed by Martin Demichelis for Stinking out Bayern Munich
Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis has criticised new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, saying the Dutchman's tenure with Bayern Munich "stank."
Demichelis was pushed away from Bavaria by Van Gaal after the pair endured a difficult relationship. The centre-back's seven-year association with the German side was ended when Van Gaal dropped Demichelis and eventually allowed his exit to Malaga.
Now at City, it seems Demichelis is still frustrated by his former coach's decision. He told German newspaper Bild he felt like "a son of the house" before Van Gaal arrived, reported via ESPN. "When Van Gaal came, it began to stink," noted the Argentinian.

Van Gaal won the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, DFB Super Cup and took Bayern to the Champions League final during his tenure between 2009-11.
He is long distinguished as a manager whose strong opinions on players can significantly affect their performances for better or worse. If Van Gaal trusts an individual and admires their talent, he usually does everything in his power to aid their development. If he believes they offer little to the team—be it via poor form or attitude—he has historically cashed in.
We've already seen this during his time with United. Van Gaal sent individuals such as Tom Cleverley and Nani packing on loan this summer, while he also chose to end Danny Welbeck's tenure with his boyhood club.

LvG publicly stated the unwanted forward didn't match up to the "standard" of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, per Daniel Taylor of The Guardian, offering no regret for selling him to a rival side.
This is certainly an example of the manager's ruthlessness and ability to do what is right for the team. While Welbeck's connection to the United fanbase came through his roots and hard-working qualities, not goalscoring prowess, Van Gaal's decision allowed Radamel Falcao to join the club.
This is potentially a tremendous signing for a Red Devils side that have ample work to complete before they can be considered genuine title contenders. Van Gaal's single-mindedness and unrelenting self-belief in shaping his own squad saw Welbeck leave. Although it is unclear whether he had a rocky relationship with the 23-year-old, this situation can be compared to the fate suffered by Demichelis at Bayern.

The defender helped Argentina overcome Van Gaal's Netherlands side in the recent World Cup semi-final, a match which saw Demichelis post the third-highest rating of any player on the pitch, according to WhoScored.com's system. He will next meet Van Gaal in the Manchester derby on Nov. 2, an Etihad tie the Citizens will expect to win.
Demichelis' form has dramatically improved since the start of his City tenure. His recent equalising goal against Arsenal could prove to be pivotal come the end of the season, while his physical displays alongside Vincent Kompany have kept new signing Eliaquim Mangala out of the team.
Joe Bernstein of the Daily Mail highlights a player who has "hardly put a foot wrong" since being sent off against Barcelona in last season's Champions League. Van Gaal will certainly hope this changes by the time he comes face-to-face with the defender he ditched four years ago.
Although City and United's rivalry bubbled under due to the latter side's lack of title challenge last season, Demichelis' comments add an intriguing sub-plot to the next showdown. Van Gaal will be determined to grab victory in his first Manchester derby, but he'll likely have to topple his former player to do so. The way Demichelis is playing at the moment, this would be no mean feat.
