Massimiliano Allegri faces an uncertain wait on the fitness of star midfielder Arturo Vidal, who expressed a discomfort in his thigh and sat out training on Wednesday.

The official Juventus website reported that Vidal will undergo tests before a decision is made on his involvement in the weeks to come: "Midfielder Arturo Vidal returned from international duty reporting muscular discomfort at the back of his right thigh. He sat out training today and tomorrow will undergo tests to assess his availability for the Bianconeri’s upcoming fixtures."

Juventus won the season opener against Chievo and are set to welcome Udinese to Turin on Saturday in what could be a tricky fixture for the hosts.

Vidal missed out on Chile's 1-0 win over Haiti on Tuesday evening as Jorge Sampaoli's side managed to emerge victorious in Florida, hinting at the midfielder's potential fitness concerns.

The South American had been away on international duty last weekend, featuring in his team's 0-0 stalemate against Mexico. Following the match, he was quoted by David Amoyal of GianlucaDiMarzio.com as saying his knee was in fine condition:

Having spoken too soon, however, it appears the same can't be said for Vidal's thigh.

No definite timespan has been given on his potential absence just yet, but in Vidal's stead, Allegri will look to the likes of Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio and Kingsley Coman to ease his burden in the middle of the park.
