Rio Ave 0 - Nacional 3 (Superliga, April 6, 2009): Rio Ave’s bid to avoid relegation took a bitter blow at the hands of Nacional, Cleber Oliveira opened midway through he first half with a header before Cleber doubled his tally in the second half. Duje Cop sealed the win in injury time.

Ashdod 0 - Maccabi Haifa 3 (Ligat ha’Al, April 6, 2009): Shlomi Arbeitman scored the opener in the 19th minute with an excellent left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. In the 63rd minute, Gustavo Boccoli whipped in an inch-perfect cross for Lior Rafaelov to head in the second. Eight minutes later the Boccoli struck a fantastic shot from 20-yard, as Haifa returned to the top of the table.

Helsingborg 1 - IFK Gothenburg 0 (Allsvenskan, April 6, 2009): The big match in round one of the new Swedish season went the way of Henrik Larsson’s boys, Marcus Lantz scoring from the spot on the stroke of halftime.

Gefle 1 - Kalmar 1 (Allsvenskan, April 6, 2009): Highly-rated Rasmus Elm put Kalmar ahead from the spot before Hasse Berggren equalised just after the hour mark.

Omonia 1 - APOEL 2 (Cypriot First Division play-offs, April 6, 2009): Despite Omonia taking a ninth minute lead through Alampi, late goals from Kontis and Pinto turned the match in APOEL’s favour.

Salzburg 4 - Austria Vienna 1 (T-Mobile Bundesliga, April 4, 2009): Robin Nelisse put Salzburg ahead in the 20th minute and Johan Vonlathen doubled the advantage 13 minutes later. Somen Tchoyi made it 3-nil after 49 minutes and Laszlo Bodnar grabbed the fourth with six minutes remaining. Mario Bazina netted a last minute consolation for third-placed Vienna.
