Benitez and Liverpool Face a Big Week Ahead and Hits Out At Critics

Liverpool have a tough week ahead, with their Champions League match with Real Madrid and their clash with Manchester United at the weekend.

The Reds are very well placed to reach the quarterfinal of the Champions League for the fourth time in five years, which has been helped with their 1-0 lead from the first leg against Real Madrid.

Four days after hosting the world class players of Real Madrid on Tuesday, Liverpool will play the world class players of Manchester United in the Premier League.

Liverpool are seven points behind United, who have a game in hand, but are still cling to faint hopes of stealing the top spot back which they held for much of the first half of the season.

Benitez hits out at his critics

Liverpool's top man Rafael Benitez feels he hasn't been given the credit he deserves for what he has done in his side's great performances through the Champions League in recent years.

"We have the best record in Europe over the last five years, yet some messages coming my way are not the best.

"The facts are there to see. Anyone can see what I have done here."

Benitez is a great manager who has done marvelous things for his team, but so have many other managers. They too haven't had great press but they don't turn into a child and say "it's not fair."

Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Martin O'Neill are examples of other managers who have done amazing things for their clubs, and you don't hear them having a go.

It's a tough job, and it's either do well or get fired.
