Reports have emerged this morning that Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Micah Richards to the Santiago Bernabeu,

Richards, 24, is said to be interested in seeing what Madrid have to offer.

Although Richards is first choice full-back at the Etihad Stadium, Real Madrid is Real Madrid and any professional footballer would be crazy not to consider them.

Add to that the fact that Mourinho is a massive admirer of Richards and tried to sign him when he was in charge of Chelsea and this could be a realistic claim.

Personally, I don’t see the move happening. Roberto Mancini is a massive fan of the England international and Richards is a product of the famed City academy and has represented the side over 170 times.

A key player for Mancini and the way City play the marauding right-back has captained the side in the absence of Vincent Kompany.

Last season his form in the early stages was some of the best of his career and saw him recalled for by the national side for the friendly against Holland.

Towards the end of the season, niggling injuries and the form of Pablo Zabaleta saw his playing time limited. This in no way reflects though the importance of Micah Richards.

With the Premier League crown to defend and the better showing in the Champions League a must for Manchester City this term, players of Richards' ability are imperative.

You can see why Mourinho would want a player like Richards in this current Madrid side with him on the one side and Marcelo on the other the pace and power to link up with the like of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema would be breath-taking.

What do you think? Do you see Micah Richards at Manchester City next season? Or could Jose Mourinho finally get his man?
