World Football Gossip Roundup: Latest on Footballers Behaving Badly
As fans, we like to think of professional athletes as role models (even if they don’t).
That’s a mistake. Professional athletes—and especially footballers—are always getting up to no good.
But that’s fine. It gives us plenty of entertainment when there’s no action to watch on the pitch.
This week in Footballers Behaving Badly, we’ve got a full docket of mischief, from an adult magazine to an on-field adult beverage—and a few things in between.
The adult mag belonged (we assume) to Santos Laguna’s Panamanian defender Felipe Baloy. But, hey, we’re not here to judge.
The adult beverage belonged to an angry Manchester City fan, but that didn’t stop Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny from pretending to enjoy a sip.
But that’s not all. Andrei Arshavin got away with a dirty stamp—on his own Zenit St. Petersburg teammate.
And elsewhere, Boca Juniors leapt headlong into a fight with a rival team’s supporters, while Borussia Dortmund’s mascot pretended to take a leak on Bayern Munich’s team bus.
