NFL Playoff Scenarios: New York Giants Set to Take NFC East Title from Cowboys

Luis BatlleDec 25, 2011

It's not how you start; it's how you finish.

Could it be that at 7-4 and with complete control of the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys will be the team on the outside looking in? Absolutely.

The New York Giants have been winning games at the most important stretch of the season, pulling out two wins in their last three games, and they are now just one game away from the 2011-12 NFC East division title.

Not to mention, they have several factors favoring this team going forward.

The Giants will play the Cowboys in Week 17 to finish off the season—almost too good to be true.

The winner, of course, will end up in the postseason, as the Giants control their own destiny and go up against a struggling Cowboys team.

Another significant factor will be the injury to Tony Romo's throwing hand. According to the Dallas Morning News, as mentioned in a previous B/R article, Romo's X-rays did come out negative and it is yet to be determined just how severe this injury will turn out to be this week.

If Romo is to suit up, the Cowboys should be expecting plenty of blitz packages and pressure early on Romo. The G-Men will be looking to take advantage of control of their own destiny and earn a spot in the NFL playoffs.

The other key factor in the Giants' dominance as of late has been the play of QB Eli Manning. Manning has thrown for nearly 900 yards in his last three outings to go along with three touchdown passes. He has made some careless throws, yet has also made some of the more impressive throws he has made all season long as of late.

Expect these Giants to take advantage of a banged-up Romo and a depleted Cowboys team, as New York is destined to come up with the NFC East title and make a promising postseason run.
