Lakers Rumors: Are Lakers the Team Holding Up a Dwight Howard Trade?
The Orlando Sentinel’s Brian Schmitz has a very interesting tidbit of information regarding Dwight Howard that will surely pique the interest of Los Angeles Lakers fans all around the country:
"The Magic have spoken with the Lakers about acquiring Bynum and Pau Gasol for Howard. They are waiting on the Lakers to make this happen, waiting for perhaps a slump that would convince general manager Kobe Bryant to pull the trigger.
"
Wait, what?
You read that correctly. The Lakers (and "general manager" Kobe Bryant) are reportedly the team holding off on a potential mega-deal that would send Pau Gasol and possibly Andrew Bynum to Orlando in exchange for the one they call “Superman.”
What in the world is the Buss family waiting for?
The Lakers looked less than stellar in two preseason games against the Clippers, and it’s clear some sort of change needs to be made. The Lakers are one of three teams on his vaunted “list” of teams he’ll play for, and L.A. features all of the trophies—and trophy wives—D-12 could ever hope for.
Why are the Lakers stalling?
It’s no secret that Jim Buss, the son of owner Dr. Jerry Buss, really doesn’t want to get rid of Bynum…but he might have to in order to save the 2011-12 season. The team morale, chemistry and whatever else goes into body language is not good as currently constructed.
The nixed Chris Paul deal and the abrupt Lamar Odom trade has started to really mess with the team and they are in desperate need of a big shakeup.
When you consider that the Magic are facing a lost season with Howard trade rumors engulfing the entire team, two seasons could be ruined by not pulling the trigger on this deal.
If a trade is made, the Lakers are back to being title contenders while receiving the strongest shot of 5-Hour Energy that is humanly possible.
The Magic get to start the rebuilding process centered on Bynum and Gasol and figure out what players mesh well with the two big men with championship experience.
This trade needs to happen, and the Lakers are insane if indeed this Orlando Sentinel report is true.
Make it happen, L.A.!
