Giants vs. Cowboys: New York Will Lasso Cowboys Offense on SNF

David DanielsDec 11, 2011

One loss overshadows the New York Giants’ four-game losing streak...in a positive way.  They only lost to the undefeated Green Bay Packers last week by three points, so in other words, the Giants are on fire.  The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, blew yet another close game. This time, to the Arizona Cardinals.

New York is confident and will take the NFC East division lead with a win on Sunday night.

Dallas did manage to string together four-straight wins before their latest letdown.  Those wins, though, were against the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks.  Out of that quartet, only the Redskins field a defense that’s ranked in the top-15 in sacks this season and they don’t start a QB on the other side of the football that gives them a chance to consistently win games.

The Giants’ pass rush is a different animal than the attacks Dallas has been blessed to face in the past few weeks.  Led by Jason Pierre-Paul and Osi Umenyiora, New York has recorded 33 sacks in 12 games this season, good for fifth in the NFL.  As Tony Romo’s ribs and lung know well, the Cowboys offensive line hasn’t provided their quarterback with what could be considered solid protection in 2011.

After much trash talk leading up to this primetime match-up, it will get dirty on SNF.  According to ESPN, after Demarcus Ware told the media that Justin Tuck dreams about being a Cowboy, reacting to when the d-lineman supposedly called Jerry Jones’ stadium a dump, Tuck responded:

"

”First of all, I don’t know when I called Dallas Cowboys Stadium a dump.  Obviously, they have a pretty nice stadium.  And me wanting to be a Cowboy…hmm.  I don’t wear Wranglers, Cowboy hats or boots or those buckle belts.  I don’t wear none of that.  And I don’t need a star on my helmet to tell me I’m pretty good at what I do.”

"

It will be a battle, but at the end of the contest, the Giants will be the ones standing victorious…and Romo will by lying on the ground in pain.
