Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups: Vince Young and Risky Players To Avoid at All Costs
After taking down the Giants last week, Vince Young has some fantasy owners fooled into thinking he's going to torch the Patriots' 32nd-ranked pass defense.
Don't buy into the hype.
Michael Vick's status is up in the air and even if Young does get the nod, his receiving corp is so banged up that they won't be able to take advantage of the Pats' porous secondary.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
One look at the Eagles' injury report on NFL.com, and it's easy to see why Young is a no-go. Vick might play, and DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are both battling injuries.
Even though Young threw for 258 yards and a pair of scores, he still had three interceptions. He's not a viable option, and you shouldn't let the big name fool you into thinking he's the answer.
He's not the only trendy player who isn't worth the risk either.
Here are two more waiver wire pickups to avoid at all costs.
Toby Gerhart, RB, Minnesota Vikings
With Adrian Peterson banged up, it's easy to assume that Toby Gerhart will eat into his production, much like Michael Bush has been doing with Darren McFadden down.
Gerhart isn't as talented as Bush though and to make matters worse, he's going up against the Atlanta Falcons, who allow 85.4 rushing YPG.
The Falcons are the second-stingiest team in the NFL against the run, and there's no way Gerhart is going to break loose. Not only should you not expect AP production, you shouldn't expect Gerhart to break the 50-yard mark.
Jerome Simpson, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Jerome Simpson destroyed the Ravens last week, racking up 152 receiving yards and filling the void A.J. Green left when he went down.
Now that Green is back in the lineup, you have missed the window to include Simpson in yours.
The Andy Dalton to Green connection will be back in full swing. and with Simpson locked down by the Cleveland Browns' No. 1-ranked pass defense, Simpson will be MIA this week.
He's been up and down all season long, and though these flashes of brilliance make him appealing to fantasy owners, he's the epitome of a feast or famine player.
