NFL Power Rankings Week 11: Stock Watch for 2010 Playoff Teams

Chris TrapassoNov 15, 2011

We see a new crop of playoff teams each season in the NFL, but what about the teams that qualified for the postseason in 2010?

A look at their current stocks as we head into Week 11.

Atlanta Falcons (13-3 in 2010)

I know I'm just a football writer and Mike Smith is a former NFL Coach of the Year, but I definitely would have punted on 4th-and-1 from my own 29 in overtime.

Just saying.

Anyway, the Falcons are a game out of the playoffs at this point and have a reasonable schedule down the stretch.

They have games against the Vikings, Panthers and are on the road against a Matt Schaub-less Texans team in a few weeks.

Their offensive balance will keep them in games and the defense is improving.

Michael Turner needs at least 20 carries a game, every game.

Stock Down

Chicago Bears (11-5 in 2010)

Winners of four straight, the Bears are one of the hottest teams in football. Jay Cutler is not only being protected, but he's making plays out of the pocket and their defense has returned to his turnover-happy ways.

They dismantled the Lions, who were coming off a bye, and did so without a huge game from MVP candidate Matt Forte.

That means something.

Currently the No.5 seed in the playoffs.

Stock Up

Philadelphia Eagles (11-5 in 2010)

I'll make this quick. The Eagles are easily the most disappointing team in football. They lost to the two-touchdown underdog Arizona Cardinals at home this past week and Michael Vick injured his ribs.

Go Flyers?

Stock Down

Seattle Seahawks (7-9 in 2010)

Last year was a nice story, and Marshawn Lynch's touchdown run against the Saints will go down in playoff history as one of the most ferocious TD scampers of all time. They upset the Ravens at home, but with the 49ers at 8-1, they'll only be the spoilers the rest of the season.

Stock Down

New Orleans Saints (11-5 in 2010)

The Saints picked up a huge divisional road win this Sunday and at 7-3, they look to be a legitimate playoff club. I'd like to see more consistency on defense, but Drew Brees has been in the zone for the majority of this season.

Don't sleep on the run game; the three-headed monster of Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles can be deadly.

Stock Up

Green Bay Packers (10-6 in 2010)

Aaron Rodgers. There, I got him out of the way. He's playing the best football we've ever seen from a quarterback and the defense is doing enough to allow the offense to out-score teams.

Green Bay has the most interceptions in the NFL this season (17).

Stock Through the Roof

AFC

New England Patriots (14-2 in 2010)

After consecutive losses, the Patriots exploited the Jets in New Jersey on national television. Revenge for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

If the defense continues to improve, watch out for the Pats.

Stock Up

Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4 in 2010)

Once again, the Steelers bounced back after losing to the Ravens. The Bengals are the upstart club in the AFC North, but with their win, Pittsburgh jumps back on top of the division.

Ben Roethlisberger deserves more love, by the way.

Stock Up

Indianapolis Colts (10-6 in 2010)

The Colts have as many losses now as they had wins last season.

Stock Down, right?

Kansas City Chiefs (10-6 in 2010)

They're still in the hunt for the AFC West title, but their season has been defined by streaks. They lost the first three games in humiliating fashion, won the next four, then lost two straight at home to the Dolphins and Broncos.

Yikes.

Stock Down

Baltimore Ravens (12-4 in 2010)

The Ravens cannot get over beating the Steelers. They were embarrassed by the Seahawks on Sunday and Ray Rice only received five carries? Where's the consistency from this team loaded with talent?

Stock Down

New York Jets (11-5 in 2010)

The Jets were ready to take the AFC East lead, then were totally dominated by Tom Brady and surprisingly, the Patriots defense at home. Who wants to win this division?
