NFL Week 9 Picks: Teams Who Should Be Scared of an Upset

Nicholas GossNov 4, 2011

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of several teams that should fear being upset in Week 9 of the NFL season.

Teams like the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks are not where they want to be in the standings thus far this year but they are playing hard and not letting teams walk all over them.

Let's look at three teams who should be scared of an upset this week.

1. Green Bay Packers

The undefeated Green Bay Packers will face the San Diego Chargers this week and should be worried about their chances at a perfect season.

The Chargers don't have anywhere to go but up after a demoralizing 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week.

San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers will break out of his slump and play better against the Packers than he has the last few weeks.

Rivers is an elite quarterback and is capable of playing much better than he has this season. At home and in a must-win game, the Chargers will give a great effort and make the Packers fight hard for a victory.

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-4 this season after a terrible 34-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week. The Cowboys don't have an identity and we are in Week 9 of the season.

Tony Romo can't win close games and he hasn't been able to carry the offense with several running backs suffering injuries this season.

The Seattle Seahawks defense is very good against the rush, and have a lot of talent. The Cowboys must play well to avoid an upset.

The Seahawks are 2-5 but they upset the New York Giants on the road a few weeks ago, and could earn another upset this Sunday.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are playing the winless Miami Dolphins on Sunday but the game won't be easy for KC.

The Chiefs have won four straight games after an 0-3 start but will face a tough test against Miami at home.

The Dolphins played well against the Giants last week, and led for some of the game. Reggie Bush proved he could be a capable starting running back, and rushed for 103 yards in Daniel Thomas' absence.

Bush will do well this week against a Chiefs run defense that allows 122.1 yards per game on the ground.

If the Chiefs don't play a very good game on Sunday the Dolphins will finally get their first win of the season.
