NFL Picks Week 8: New Orleans Saints and 3 Road Warriors Who Will Win

Brian MaziqueOct 29, 2011

Don't expect to see a ton of road victories in Week 8. The home teams should dominate for the most part. But there will be a few exceptions. Here are three:

New Orleans Saints

The Saints will be the newest team to feast on the St. Louis Rams. The Rams seem to be inadvertently sucking, but it isn't likely for Andrew Luck. They can't help it.

Sam Bradford will miss his second straight game with an ankle injury. To say the Rams offense has been struggling is like saying the Titanic was a relatively large boat. The Rams are averaging just over nine points per game this season. You won't win many games like that, that certainly includes a game against a team coming off a 62-point explosion the previous week.

The Saints will register their second consecutive blowout win, 35-10.

The Bengals have been surprisingly steady all season. Their defense has been among the best in the NFL. They currently rank fifth against the run and pass. It has been the best friend to the Bengals rookie QB, Andy Dalton. The Bengals are only 28th in the NFL in drive success. They are only 27th in yards per drive, the 4-2 record means the defense is taking major pressure off of the offense.

With the Bengals matched against the anemic Seahawks offense, who are coming off a horrible to watch 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns and won't be able to muster up enough points to knock off the Bengals. Cincinnati will win a low scoring affair 14-7.

The Kansas City Chiefs surprised division rival Oakland Raiders in Week 7. They have gotten the division's attention and they won't sneak up on the Chargers.

The Chiefs are back in the division race after an abysmal start. The Chiefs offense has really stepped it up since their slow start. After averaging nine points per game for the first three, they have rebounded to produce 26 points per game during the three-game win streak.

The key has been Matt Cassel's improved play. Though he slipped a bit last week, he has thrown five TDs to only two INTs in the last three games. Both of those INTs came last week.

If Cassel limits turnovers, he gives the Chiefs a chance to win with the run game and their strong defense.

The Chargers will force turnovers and any day now, the real Philip Rivers will show up. He must improve upon his inconsistent play so far this season.

I expect that to happen this week. Rivers has missed Antonio Gates this season, but even with him back he still played poorly in Week 7. Luckily for the Chargers, this game will be won on the defense forcing turnovers. They will win the turnover battle and the game.

Chargers win a close game, 19-14.
