New York Islanders vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: Isles Need To Step Up Against Pens
The New York Islanders have to get back into form, and fast.
After starting the season with a record of 3-1, the Isles have now lost two straight games and look a bit flat. They need to wake up soon because their next two games are not easy. The Penguins, who are 6-2-2 on the season, look very strong and should give the Islanders a great test.
Both Matt Cooke and James Niel of the Pens have filled in nicely while Evgeni Malkin and Sydney Crosby are out. Put this together with strong defensive play and great goaltending and it's no surprise the Penguins find themselves on top of the Atlantic Division standings.

The Islanders have been looking weaker as the games go on and need to turn things around soon. Most of the offensive production has come from the first line and, specifically, John Tavares. The defense has been relatively strong and the addition of Mark Streit has helped out drastically. Players like Josh Bailey, Blake Comeau and Kyle Okposo, who have been invisible to start the season, need to step up their game.
The goaltending situation is still up in the air as there is still no clear cut No. 1 between Al Montoya and Evgeni Nabokov (the team is still waiting on Rick DiPietro who is currently out with a concussion).
The Islanders will play at home on Tuesday night against the Penguins. They'll have their work cut out for them as they look to get into form. This should be the biggest test for the Isles so far this season.
