NFL Power Rankings: Atlanta Falcons and the 4 Most Frustrating Teams

John RozumOct 4, 2011

Although it's early in the season still, the following three teams have their fans more frustrated than ever.

It's much easier to deal with underachievement when there's no expectations, but when winning becomes a standard and the pressure is on each week, a lack of performance can cause a head coaches' hair to fall out.

So with that in mind, here are four teams who have been the most frustrating to this point in 2011.

Atlanta Falcons (2-2)

Last season the Atlanta Falcons won the NFC South and finished with a 13-3 record, not to mention they were the NFC's No. 1 seed in the postseason.

However, they lost in the playoffs. But that lack of experience is no longer an issue, asit was then, so it's reasonable for fans to have expected more in 2011.

With two losses already, and a scary non-60 minutes performances in Weeks 3 and 4, the Falcons are hoping for a wild-card bid.

The road loss at Tampa Bay was tough, but getting up big on Seattle and then almost losing is frustration in a nutshell.

New York Jets (2-2)

In Week 1, the New York Jets had a great comeback win over the Dallas Cowboys, which then carried over into a Week 2 (32-3) smashing of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, the Jets have dropped their last two games and perhaps Sunday night was the deal-breaker.

Rex Ryan and co. lost 34-17 in Baltimore, but failed to score one offensive TD, as QB Mark Sanchez went 11-of-35 for 119 and one pick.

Obviously, the defense and special teams played great by scoring the 17 points, but that's not going to happen every week.

And unless New York's AFC franchise picks it up, they'll be lucky to finish third place within their own division.

Philadelphia Eagles

I'll spare you the names and total number of offseason acquisitions the Eagles made, because by now it's such a moot point that The City of Brotherly Love must feel apathetic about football, especially since the Phillies are in the MLB postseason.

Nonetheless, baseball will end this month and who knows when the NBA is going to start up? Therefore, Philly fans must choose between the Eagles and Flyers.

And based on how frustrating and underachieving these so-called paper champions have been, hockey season can't come soon enough for Philadelphia.

Now, not all hope is lost, as there's still a lot of football to be played—not to mention the talent is still there.

Obviously, the sooner the Eagles figure out how to play together (especially on defense) the better, but they'll make a playoff run by season's end at the very least.

Dallas Cowboys

Heading into 2011 much wasn't expected out of the Dallas Cowboys, but if you know any Cowboys fans' (this guy) then you know how frustrated they are.

Sure 2-2 is vehemently better than where Wade Phillips had them at this point in 2011, and yes, new head coach Jason Garrett is expected to turn things around.

But, even after a big home win over the Washington Redskins, Big D still managed to not play a full 60 minutes despite having a little more momentum and confidence.

Now that confidence did carry over from the Redskins' game otherwise Dallas wouldn't have gotten a 27-3 lead. However, maintaining that lead is the next step.

Just as we saw when they played the Jets in Week 1, and then again versus Detroit in Week 4, the 'Boys gave up a lead.

All they have to do is finish, because once they learn how to do that, they'll be back atop the NFC East.
