Nick Diaz: What Does This Means for His Future in the UFC and MMA?

Tim McTiernanSep 7, 2011

Nick Diaz is one dumb son of a *****.

He did not attend the second press conference for his title fight against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 137, and he has now been pulled out of the fight.

The immediate first thought would be that Dana White will simply cut Diaz and send him back to Strikeforce. Not quite.

Dana White said during the press conference "I won't cut him or anything like that, yet."

For the moment, that can be ruled out.

During the press conference, Cesar Gracie called Dana and voiced his agreement for pulling Diaz out of the fight. He also said that he has not been able to get in touch with Diaz.

Diaz appears to be in hiding, and it's time to question, what does this mean for his future as a mixed martial artist?

It means that he will probably never fight in the UFC again, and yeah, Dana said that he won't cut Diaz, but he added "yet."

Dana is known for not dealing with any BS from his fighters.

Marquardt failed a medical exam, cut. Todd Duffee had a bad attitude, cut. Gerald Harris had a bad round, cut.

Why would he put up with anything of this magnitude from someone who was going to be part of a main event title fight?

Diaz will be sent back to Strikeforce, will be their welterweight champion, and will not come back to the UFC.

Diaz will probably go on to box, and do whatever else he wanted to, but to run with a metaphor that Dana White alluded to during the press conference, his window has closed.
