10 NBA Stars We'd Love to see in a Drew League-Goodman League Game

Jeffrey McKinneyJun 1, 2018

Thanks to the NBA lockout, many NBA stars have had to turn to other outlets to stay in playing shape.

Pro Amateur leagues like the Drew League and the Goodman League have been called “pick up games to the stars” thanks to NBA stars like Kevin Durant, LeBron James and most recently Kobe Bryant gracing their gyms.

The two leagues provide athletes a chance to be competitive, flashy, and have a little fun. It also gives players another outlet in some of their respective homes.

Durant, Bryant and others have dropped big numbers and made some spectacular plays in Drew/Goodman league games, here are some other players who we would love to see join them.

Derrick Rose

1 of 10

This past season Derrick Rose had a break out year.

Rose led the Chicago Bulls to the Eastern Conference finals and became the youngest player to win the MVP award.

With his combination of speed, defense and the ability to make tough plays, Rose would be a gem to see on a pick up like court.

Chris Paul

2 of 10

CP3 is one of the best point guards in the game today.

Paul has great speed, court vision and is fearless when going to the rim.

Although his name has been in the media a lot because of trade rumors and the current lock out situation, Paul could make even more news if he had a great game in a Pro Am league.

Amare Stoudemire

3 of 10

A lot of times outside the NBA, fans can get guard crazy. This list is no different.

In comes Amare Stoudemire.

Stoudemire is one of the best big men in the game today. Stoudemire is a strong presence in the post on both ends, and the combination of speed, strength and athleticism have made him have some memorable dunks.

Stoudemire would do wonders in the Drew or the Goodman courts. Even better could be seeing the Knicks  star play at New York's Rucker Park.

Carmelo Anthony

4 of 10

Carmelo Anthony is one of the best scorers in the league today.

Anthony is dangerous because he has the quickness of a guard and the ability to create his own shot.

Melo can score anywhere on the court and hit some tough shots.

A Pro Am league would be good for Melo because he could show off on the offensive end and not worry so much about defense.

Dwight Howard

5 of 10

While guards and forwards are often the stars in Pro Am games, big men like DeMarcus Cousin’s have been able to have a few highlights.

Dwight Howard could have even bigger ones.

Howard is one of the most athletic big men in the game, and is known for his high flying dunks and blocks.

Howard would not only be hard to stop in the post, but he would be difficult for opposing players to put up anything in the paint.

Dwyane Wade

6 of 10

D-Wade will go down as one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

Wade is both a great defender and great scorer who makes some tough plays.

The thing that would make Wade great on a Drew/Goodman court is his ability to make some unbelievable plays above the rim.

Wade is also an unselfish who could make some big plays for other stars.

Blake Griffin

7 of 10

What a rookie season for Blake Griffin

Griffin averaged 22.5 points, 12 rebounds, won the slam dunk contest, was a 2011 All-Star and took home the Rookie of the Year award.

Griffin had some of the most memorable dunks this past season and will be one of the most exciting players in the NBA as time goes on.

With the level of freedom that Pro Am courts have, Griffin could show off even more creative plays.

Lebron James

8 of 10

Love him or hate him, LeBron James is arguably one of, if not the best player in the game today.

James participated in a Drew League game earlier in the summer. James nearly had a triple double putting up 33points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.

James is a highlight reel waiting to happen and could add some more impressive ones to the list with more Pro Am games.

Imagine James and Kobe back and forth in a pickup level type game.

Kobe Bryant

9 of 10

Kobe Bryant recently had his first Drew League game where he dropped 45 points including a game winning shot over Oklahoma City’s James Harden.

Talks of Bryant participating in another Drew League have come up since the last game and have many people wondering what will happen next.

If Bryant does play in another league game, fans will be in for a treat. Kobe looked a lot more youthful in the game and kept the theatrics up until the very last shot.

Kevin Durant

10 of 10

When Kevin Durant goes off, he’s one of the most unstoppable players in the league.

The same can be said on the Pro Am level.

Durant scored 66 points at the legendary Rucker Park in NYC.

Durant has also dropped big numbers in DC’s Goodman league this summer.

His mixture of long threes and spectacular dunks on these courts has made Durant the talk of the summer.
