NHL Trade: New York Islanders Acquire Brian Rolston from New Jersey Devils
The New York Islanders have agreed to a trade with the New Jersey Devils that will send veteran forward Brian Rolston to the Islanders in exchange for forward Trent Hunter according to NHL.com
The Devils needed to make a move in order to attempt to re-sign star forward Zach Parise, who is scheduled for an arbitration hearing on August 3rd.
Rolston, who is 38 years old, scored 14 goals and 34 points in 65 games as a member of the Devils last season. Rolston has 335 goals and 737 points in his 16 year NHL career with the Devils, Bruins, Avalanche and Wild.

Trent Hunter only played 17 games last season because of a knee injury, He scored one goal and four points. The 31 year old Hunter has played his entire eight year career with the islanders in which he scored 99 goals and 229 points.
The islanders are in need of getting to the NHL salary cap floor. This trade should get them close as Rolston has a cap hit of $5.0625 million according to CapGeek.com. This trade also brings in a veteran player that can still produce offensively.
The Islanders aren't expected to make big moves this offseason. These are the types of deals that will be made if there are anymore at all from the Islanders. While it may not be the most exciting trade, it will be interesting to see which veteran will help their new team the most in the upcoming season.
