UFC: 5 Dream Matches That Fans Want to See
The UFC is great. I love watching MMA, and I love MMA betting. There are plenty of great fights waiting to be set in most weight classes, but I want more.
Back in the early days of the UFC they didn’t worry so much about weight classes. They just put two bad, bad men in a cage and watched to see who emerged victorious. While we probably don’t need to return to that type of barely-controlled chaos, it would be nice to see Dana White and company mix it up a bit.
Here are five weight class, and occasionally discipline-defying superfights that I would love to see. Some are clearly more likely than others, but they would all be worth watching:

Ranking Best Fighters on Card 🏛️
Georges St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva
This is obviously the fight that sits at the top of any list like this—and of the wish list of almost every UFC fan. GSP has reigned over the welterweight division for more than 1,300 days. Silva has topped the middleweights for more than 1,700. They have fought the top challengers in their division, and neither has given us many reasons to question their superiority.
Both divisions seem to be short of legitimate contenders to challenge the champs—especially the middleweights. They are the two best fighters in the world in most eyes, and they stand as the most legitimate challenge for each other.
It would be a magical fight that would sell like crazy. There is really no reason for it not to happen. I just wish I honestly believed we will get to see it.
Dominick Cruz vs. Jose Aldo
The UFC has welcomed the little men into their fold recently, and these two stand as the undisputed class of their respective weight classes—featherweight for Aldo, and the even lighter bantamweight for Cruz.
Both these guys are absolutely incredible fighters, and they never fail to produce an exciting, action-packed fight. They can both take a ridiculous amount of punishment, and they can dish it out as well. They both have only lost once, and both seem to be getting better as things go along.
Their fight would probably go the distance, and you wouldn’t want to blink during any of it or you might miss something.
Dana White never managed to make the Fedor-Couture fight happen, but this one would be a suitable replacement.
Both guys need a way back to the top of the sport, and this would put the winner on that trajectory.
Lesnar needs to get healthy and become a heavyweight factor again. Fedor needs to shake off some bad performances and rumors of retirement and show that he is still one of the greatest fighters on the planet.
Both guys are huge and nasty, and they could dish out an impossible amount of punishment in this one. There is almost no chance it would go the distance—and it would get awfully boring in the later rounds if it did—but they would pack a whole lot of thrills into a short period.
Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock
The UFC could stand to recognize the fighters that laid the foundation for the success it is enjoying now, and this fight would be a great way to do so.
Gracie won three of the first four UFC tournaments, and is viewed by some as the best fighter ever. Shamrock lost to Gracie at UFC 1, and the two legends went on to have a major rivalry. That rivalry came to a boil at UFC 5 when they fought for the newly created UFC Superfight Championship. That fight ended in a ridiculous draw after more than 35 minutes because the UFC hadn’t thought to provide judges, and neither fighter showed any sign of giving in. It would be great to see that feud settled once and for all.
Both fighters are old now, and they both have dealt with some controversies. Both have had a hard time saying goodbye to the ring, though, and I think you could make this fight happen—especially because there isn’t a lot of love lost between the two.
It wouldn’t be the best fight ever, but it would be a fun tip of the cap to history.
Either Klitschko vs. Cain Velasquez
I don’t care which Klitschko it is because no one can really tell them apart anyway. There is the age old debate about who would win when a boxer and a MMA star fought, and this would allow fighters in their prime to settle it.
The Klitschko’s need to do something to revitalize their sport since they have essentially ruined it lately—they have no one to fight except each other, and they refuse to do that.
Velasquez is a total beast, and I expect that he would win the fight, but I’d love to see if I am right. Since the Klitschkos are very popular in Europe, this would be a great way for the UFC to expand their popularity as well.
