UFC 130 Results: Live Play by Play and Commentary from Las Vegas
Frankie Edgar's long-awaited trilogy with perennial rival Gray Maynard was postponed when injuries sustained by both men and prevented them from being able to compete.
Rather than shove a half-speed rematch of the arguable 2011 Fight of The Year candidate between the two less-than-healthy Lightweights down everybody's throats, UFC President Dana White has postponed the rematch for a later time and bumped up the original co-main event between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Matt "The Hammer" Hamill up to the status of main event. A mid-card Heavyweight bout between Frank Mir and "Big Country" Roy Nelson has taken the status of co-headliner.
Additionally, a Spike Prelim bout in the super-talented UFC Welterweight division between Thiago "Pitbull" Alves and Rick "The Horror" Story became an addition to the main card with the news of Edgar-Maynard III being scrapped.
Finally, the long-awaited return of Jorge "The Sandman" Santiago comes as he looks to capitalize on his success in his last fight against Kazuo Misaki in the Sengoku Middleweight title bout that many argued for as being the greatest fight in MMA history. But doing so means taking on the difficult task of derailing the All-American express that Brian Stann has been riding as of late—and that train really picked up steam with Stann's KO win over Chris Leben at UFC 125 in what many fans called a "huge mismatch" and an "easy fight" for Leben.
Stacked from the brim to the base with excitement fueled clashes, UFC 130 guarantees to bring forth the intensity it originally promised, even with the unfortunate loss of its original main event, and yours truly is one of the many fighting out of Team B/R tonight to get you your dose of UFC 130 coverage—the way coverage should be delivered!
