Stephen Curry 'Probable' for Warriors' Game 2 vs. Pelicans, Per Steve Kerr
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is probable for the team's Game 2 matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans, head coach Steve Kerr said Monday.
Kerr also told reporters Curry scrimmaged Sunday against players who aren't featuring heavily for the Warriors in the NBA playoffs. The Athletic's Anthony Slater shared Kerr's comments:
Curry hasn't played since Golden State's 106-94 win over the Atlanta Hawks on March 23, after which the team confirmed he suffered a sprained MCL.
The Warriors haven't missed him much in the postseason. They beat the San Antonio Spurs, who were without Kawhi Leonard, in five games and then dropped 123 points on the Pelicans in a 22-point Game 1 victory. Golden State could probably keep Curry out for the rest of the second round and still cruise past New Orleans.
But it will be good for Curry to get back into game shape ahead of what's likely to be a matchup with the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals. The Rockets beat the Utah Jazz 110-96 in Game 1 of their second-round series.
The Warriors have been going through the motions for a large of this year, so much so that Kerr let the players handle coaching duties for a game to change things up a bit. But Golden State would need to be at its best against the Rockets, and that means having a healthy Curry looking like his usual self.
