Knicks HC Rumors: NY to Interview David Blatt, Spurs Assistant James Borrego
The New York Knicks have reportedly lined up two interviews in their search for a new head coach.
Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks will meet with David Blatt next week in Europe and intend to meet with San Antonio Spurs assistant James Borrego at some point.
The Knicks have cast a wide net as they seek to replace Jeff Hornacek, who was fired at the end of the regular season after going 60-104 in two years with the team.
Wojnarowski previously reported David Fizdale, Mark Jackson and Jerry Stackhouse were going to interview with the Knicks. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith added that TNT analyst Kenny Smith will also meet with the team.
Blatt has been coaching Darussafaka of the Turkish League and EuroLeague since June 2016. He spent two years as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014-16, posting an 83-40 record and leading the team to the NBA Finals in 2015.
Borrego is in his second stint with the Spurs, being hired as an assistant on Gregg Popovich's staff in June 2015. The 40-year-old previously worked with the organization from 2003-10 before spending time with the New Orleans Hornets and Orlando Magic.
