Draymond Green: Warriors Know What They're Capable of Without Stephen Curry

Mike ChiariApr 14, 2018

After the Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 113-92 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series Saturday, Dubs forward Draymond Green addressed the team's prospects without guard Stephen Curry.

As seen in the following video courtesy of SI.com's Ben Golliver, Green expressed confidence in what Golden State can accomplish even when Curry isn't in the lineup:

Curry didn't play in Saturday's game after missing the final 10 games of the regular season due to a Grade 2 MCL sprain.

The Warriors announced Saturday that Curry will be re-evaluated next week.

Green pointed out that the Warriors have won games and even playoff series without some of their top contributors in recent years, including himself, Curry, Kevin Durant,ย KlayThompson and even head coach Steve Kerr.

Golden State did struggle down the stretch without Curry, though, as it finished the season 4-6 in its final 10 games.

Despite that, Green said the Warriors are "primed" to thrive even when they are missing key players. He added that he believes some have forgotten what the Warriors are capable of when they aren't at full strength.

Golden State finished seven games behind the top-seeded Houston Rockets in the Western Conference. However, the Warriors remain a top contender to return to the NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive year.

While the absence of Curry could prove problematic in later rounds if the two-time NBA MVP remains on the shelf, Thompson and Durant stepped up Saturday with 27 and 24 points, respectively, while Green stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.
