MarShon Brooks Reportedly Agrees to Guaranteed 2-Year Contract with Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies have apparently liked what they've seen from guard MarShon Brooks.
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the Grizzlies signed Brooks to a guaranteed two-year deal three games into his 10-day contract. The Providence product averaged 23.3 points and 3.7 assists a night in those three contests.
Before these three games with Memphis, Brooks last played a regular-season contest in the NBA during the 2013-14 campaign when he appeared in a combined 35 games for the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers. He also played 73 games in 2012-13 for the Brooklyn Nets.
Brooks didn't live up to expectations when he was the No. 25 overall pick in the 2011 draft, but he did average 12.6 points per game for the Nets as a rookie in 2011-12.
Despite being out of the NBA in recent seasons, Brooks is still just 29 years old and has demonstrated promise as a high-scoring guard.
According to NBA.com, Brooks played three seasons for the Jiangsu Dragons in the Chinese Basketball Association before signing the 10-day contract with the Grizzlies and poured in 36.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists a night in his most recent campaign.
