Brandin Cooks Trade Sparks Twitter Reaction as Rams' Busy Offseason Continues

Alec NathanApr 3, 2018

The Los Angeles Rams' busy offseason continued in a big way on Tuesday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the reigning NFC West champions agreed to acquire wide receiver Brandin Cooks and a 2018 fourth-round pick from the New England Patriots in exchange for 2018 first- and sixth-round picks.

Los Angeles' latest move, as NFL Network's Mike Garafolo noted, came just one year after the Patriots agreed to acquire Cooks from the New Orleans Saints

And while landing Cooks undoubtedly bolsters the Rams' receiving corps and gives them a replacement for field-stretcher Sammy Watkins, PhillyVoice's Jimmy Kempski and NFL reporter Dov Kleiman both saw the deal as a win for New England:

That said, moving on from Cooks created even more turnover in the personnel department for a club that had already experienced its fair share, as Whistle Sports' Joe Caporoso pointed out:

Looking ahead, Schefter suggested the Patriots' draft pick stockpile could be used to trade up to select Tom Brady's successor:

However, the Boston Globe's Ben Volin and Pro Football Focus' Mike Renner had alternative strategies in mind:

As for the Rams, Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith highlighted just how narrow their title window may be with this current group:

Here's a look at the best of the remaining reaction from around Twitter:

At this point, it's evident the Rams are aiming for a Super Bowl and nothing less. That became clear when they brought Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters into the fold, and their position has been reinforced over the last week with the additions of Cooks and Ndamukong Suh.

Conversely, questions are abounding in New England as the Patriots continue to keep the rest of the league guessing. But if Bill Belichick's track record is any indication, the Pats' personnel tactics are not to be questioned.
