Rockets News: Tim Quarterman Agrees to 2-Year Contract in Houston
The Houston Rockets reportedly reached an agreement on a two-year contract Friday with guard Tim Quarterman, who most recently played with the Agua Caliente Clippers of the G League.
Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports first reported the signing and noted it also includes a team option for an additional season.
Quarterman spent last offseason with the Rockets after being acquired in a June trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in three Summer League appearances, but was waived in October before the start of the regular season.
The 23-year-old Georgia native joined Agua Caliente last month. He put up 8.9 points, 5.3 dimes, 4.3 board and 1.5 steals per game in 11 games before signing with Houston.
He told Stephen Hunt of the Savannah Morning News earlier this week he's still trying to apply the lessons he learned playing alongside Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum in Portland.
"(I learned) just the work ethic and how you got to carry yourself each and every day. Those are two of the most prolific scorers in the NBA right now, they're really doing their thing," Quarterman said. "I just learned that you got to come and work hard every day, grind it out."
He'll play behind two more backcourt superstars with James Harden and Chris Paul in Houston. It's unlikely he'll take on a significant role with that tandem and Eric Gordon dominating the minutes, but he could play the role of sparkplug off the bench for the Rockets.
