LeBron James Ties Michael Jordan's Streak of Games with 10-Plus Points
LeBron James added another mark in the NBA record books, this time tying Michael Jordan.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star scored more than 10 points Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets, giving him 866 straight games in double figures, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
He finished the game with 41 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in the 118-105 win at Spectrum Center.
"Anytime I'm mentioned with some of the greats, and arguably the greatest basketball player of all time in Mike, it's just another feat for me to be appreciative and humbled by what I've been able to do," James said about the record. "And just knowing where I come from and knowing, I look at it and say 'Wow, I can't believe I'm in this position,' knowing where I come from."
Jordan began his streak in his second season in 1986 and continued through his second retirement. It wasn't until he returned with the Washington Wizards in 2001 when he was held to just six points in a game.
James' run began in his fourth season, and 11 years later, he is still going strong. He has averaged more than 25 points per game each year in this stretch, earning four MVP awards.
The 33-year-old also doesn't seem like he is slowing down anytime soon, averaging 27.6 points, 9.1 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN noted the veteran's legacy as an all-around player:
However, he will first try to show what he can do as a scorer by breaking Jordan's record Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
