John Schneider: Earl Thomas, Seahawks Not in Talks over New Contract
Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Monday the team is not currently discussing a contract extension with All-Pro safety Earl Thomas.
According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Schneider said: "No, not at this point, no. There are a number of guys that we have coming up that have one year left. Earl, this would be his third contract, and he is a great, great player."
Thomas has one year remaining on his contract.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This offseason has been a transitional time for the Seahawks as their roster has undergone an overhaul.
Cornerback Richard Sherman was released, defensive end Michael Bennett was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, and significant injuries to safety Kam Chancellor and defensive end Cliff Avril have left their respective futures in limbo.
Thomas is one of the few linchpins remaining on the Seattle defense along with linebacker Bobby Wagner, but there is no guarantee he will be with the team beyond 2018.
His status for 2018 isn't even certain since he hinted at a holdout in January, saying, "I definitely don't see myself going out there not signed," per ESPN.com's Brady Henderson.
The 28-year-old Thomas is a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro selection. He is coming off a solid season that saw him register 88 tackles and two interceptions.
Durability is becoming a concern, though, as he has missed seven games over the past two seasons after playing in every game over his first six years.
While the Seahawks aren't yet committing to Thomas long term, his desire to stay in Seattle is also somewhat questionable considering he told Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett to "come get me" after a game last season.
Thomas reached two Super Bowls with the Seahawks as a member of the "Legion of Boom" secondary, winning one.
If Thomas is no longer in the fold come 2019, the Seahawks' once-ferocious defense will be nearly unrecognizable, and it will be difficult for Schneider to deny that a rebuild is in progress.
