Nets vs. Raptors Game Delayed as Officials Check If Toronto's Basket Is Level
Friday's game between the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors was briefly delayed in the third quarter due to an unbalanced rim.
Per the YES Network, officials stopped play so they could measure one of the baskets at the Air Canada Centre:
There isn't an exact parallel to this incident, though J.J. Redick tried to create a conspiracy theory in January.
Redick told Kyrie Irving he believed the Philadelphia 76ers were using a crooked rim during a game against the Boston Celtics in London, via NJ.com's Zack Rosenblatt:
"One rim was so (expletive) crooked. (Irving: Which one?) The one you guys shot at in the first half. We shot at in the second half. (Irving: I would agree a little bit. A little bit.) I was adamant this morning that we had to figure out a way wherever the bench was, that we would shoot at that in the first half so we could have the good rim in the second half."
Things eventually got settled, and order was restored in Toronto.
A crooked rim is one of the few things that has slowed down the Raptors at home this season. Their 29-6 mark in Toronto is the best in the NBA entering Friday's game.
